Division of Physical Metrology conducts research for the establishment and maintenance of national measurement standards related to the three basic SI units of length (m), temperature (K), and luminous intensity (cd), as well as derived units related to fluid flow, acoustics, vibration, ultrasonics, thermophysical quantities, non-destructive testings, and so on. These efforts are fundamental to core scientific research, the production of advanced products, and the fairness of commercial transactions. We strive to achieve a very high level of reliability in the development and dissemination of advanced measurement technologies.
