WMD
World Metrology Day (WMD) originated from the signing of the Meter Convention by 17 countries in Paris, France, on May 20, 1875.To commemorate this event, the General Conference on Weights and Measures (CGPM) has designated May 20th as World Metrology Day each year, spreading awareness of the importance of units and standards worldwide. As Korea’s National Metrology Institute, the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS) holds WMD celebrations annually, in conjunction with international organizations and national metrology institutes from around the world. The WMD events are organized around the theme of the key metrology standard issues of the year, as selected by the CGPM. The past WMD themes provide a clear overview of how global challenges in metrology standards have evolved over time. You can view the details of past events and posters in this section.
