KRISS and Daejeon Technopark Sign MoU for the "Deep Tech Scale-Up Valley Development Project"

On Wednesday, November 13, KRISS and Daejeon Technopark (Daejeon TP) held an MoU signing ceremony at Daejeon TP’s Aullim Plaza. The agreement aims to foster mutual cooperation for the development of the “Quantum Transition Scale-Up Valley for Quantum Computing.”

This agreement aims to solidify the mutual cooperation between KRISS and Daejeon TP for the successful implementation of the "Deep Tech Scale-Up Valley Development Project" in the quantum computing field, designated by the Ministry of Science and ICT last September.

Under the agreement, both organizations will focus on initiatives such as:

○ Exchange of quantum technology and human resources,

○ Support for quantum companies through provision of facilities and equipment,

○ Training and nurturing quantum professionals, and

○ Securing national projects through collaboration with the government.

Starting with this agreement, DaejeonTP plans to form a working group to establish a mid-to-long-term roadmap for Daejeon’s regional quantum-related industries. It will also enhance the establishment of a quantum science and technology expert network centered on Daejeon, strengthen ecosystem development, and promote central network exchanges and international cooperation.

Dr. Lee Ho Seong, President of KRISS remarked, “The selection of this initiative reflects KRISS’s quantum technology capabilities and Daejeon City’s meticulous planning to grow as a quantum hub city. Through this agreement, we anticipate the successful creation of a Deep-Tech Scale-Up Valley, supported by KRISS’s quantum technology and personnel exchanges, along with Daejeon TP’s provision of corporate spaces and equipment.”

Kim Woo Youn, President of Daejeon TP, stated, “This agreement lays the foundation for Daejeon to emerge as a leading quantum economy city. Based on the government’s quantum industry promotion policies, Daejeon and KRISS will actively cooperate to enable Daejeon to make a leap as the central hub of the quantum industry.”

KRISS aims to accelerate the discovery of quantum technology businesses and revitalize the quantum industry ecosystem through the ongoing “Deep Tech Scale-Up Valley Development Project.” KRISS plans to expand collaborations with Daejeon City and related organizations to further promote quantum technology, one of the three game-changing technologies.
