MASM Delegation’s Visit to KRISS

* MASM (Mongolian Agency for Standard and Metrology): The National Metrology Institute (NMI) of Mongolia

On November 10th, the MASM delegation led by its Acting Chairman, Mr. Uuganbayar Bayarsaikhan, visited Korea for the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between KRISS and MASM. This event also included the KRISS-MASM friendly football match.

As the NMI of Mongolia, MASM plays a comprehensive role in various areas of national standards, including legal metrology, accreditation, and quality certification. Since their first MOU signed in May 1997, KRISS and MASM have been continuing diverse forms of collaboration such as joint research, peer reviews, and international comparisons. This MOU renewal marks the fifth agreement between the two institutes.

Through this event, KRISS could strengthen the partnership with MASM, which successfully hosted the APMP** Mid-year Meeting 2023 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia commemorating their 100th anniversary. At the KRISS-MASM Summit during the Mid-year Meeting, the two institutes agreed to reinforce their mutual cooperation, including technical consultations by KRISS experts and training courses offered by KRISS GMA***/UST****.

Additionally, the MASM delegation had meetings with KATS (Korean Agency of Technology and Standards) and KSA (Korean Standards Association). Besides, they visited Jain Co., Ltd. as well as Korea Instrument Co., Ltd., which are internationally accredited calibration organizations, to observe calibration systems for gas flow, viscosity, and pressure.

During their stay, both KRISS and MASM enjoyed a friendly football match, rekindling a tradition that began in 2014. The football match served as a symbolic event, confirming their longstanding friendship. It is expected that the MASM delegation’s visit will become a stepping stone for active mutual cooperation between the two institutes.
