Mr. ZHANG Yukuan, Director of NIM of China and his colleagues visited KRISS to participate in the 3rd summit of directors of NMIs of Korea and China on September 28-29, 2010. The two organizations discuss substantial technical collaborations in the fields of mutual interest, including health, CRM's, and the new definitions of SI units such as next-generation frequency standards and Watt balance. It is envisaged that the two NMI's will be hosting an annual joint workshop and exchanging visiting teams among researchers within the framework of the new MoU signed by Mr. Zhang Yukuan and Dr. Myungsoo Kim of KRISS on September 28, 2010. On October 1st 2010, Dr. Myungsoo Kim participated in the summit between NMIJ of Japan and KRISS, Korea. During the meeting hosted by NMIJ, Tsukuba, technical issues of proficiency testing, CRM's, collaborative researches on the development of next-generation frequency standards and issues of management and operations of institute were tabled. The two NMI's agreed to resume exchange of visiting teams so that young metrologists of both institutes could explore wider opportunities of collaborations based on deeper understanding of each other's laboratories. The summit reached an agreement that the current MoU between KRISS and NMIJ could be renewed before the end of March 2011 to be valid for another five years.
