On January 11, KRISS held the APMP Technical Activity Award ceremony for Dr. Chu-shik Kang, the former APMP Lead TC Chair and Dr. Sang-il Lee, the former APMP FG-CCCA Chair.

* APMP: Asia Pacific Metrology Programme

* FG-CCCA: Focus Group-Climate Change and Clean Aira

This award is granted to the APMP chairs whose term is ended and plaques are originally given at the annual GA. However, as the 2020 APMP GA was held online due to COVID-19, plaques were sent to each institution to hold their own award ceremony.

* GA: General Assembly

Dr. Chu-shik Kang became the first figure of KRISS who served as Lead TC Chair from 2017 and 2020, an important position responsible for supervising APMP 12 TCs and connecting the APMP activities with other RMOs through JCRB. In particular, he developed the Hybrid Comparison scheme and significantly contributed to obtaining consent of RMOs and CC chairs. As a result of his efforts, Hybrid Comparisons suggested by APMP can be acknowledged as an evidence for CMC submissions.

He also introduced the minutes of meeting for TC meetings and records for Actions and Resolutions in an attempt to establish a system by which decisions made at meetings can be made official and are constantly monitored. In his remarks, Dr. Kang thanked all TC chairs and EC members, as well as the APMP Chairperson and the secretariat for their support and cooperation during his three-year term.

Dr. Sang-il Lee, who served as FG-CCCA Chair from 2017 to 2020 and made a significant contribution to strengthen metrology capability related to climate change and air quality among NMIs in the Asia and Pacific regions. By preparing the FG-CCCA Strategy Document, he established specific action plans for FG activities for the next five years. In order to enhance metrology capabilities of NMIs and interactions among interested parties, he also planned and implemented various programs including technical education, field education, and workshops.

In his remarks, Dr. Lee said he had been happy to work with APMP members in various TCs and expressed his gratitude for the past activities and anticipation for the next chair.

The next Lead TC Chair is Dr. Victoria Coleman from NMIA, Australia, and the next FG-CCCA Chair is Dr. Fuu Ming Kai from A*STAR/NMC, Singapore.

In addition to the two former chairs, several experts from KRISS are currently serving leaders in APMP-Dr. Yon-Kyu Park serving as EC member, Dr. In-seok Yang as TCT Chair, Dr. Hyung-kew Lee as TCEM Chair, and Dr. Dai-hyuk Yu as TCTF Chair. Dr. Yong-tae Kim and Dr. Byung-joo Kim were appointed as TCAUV Chair-Elect and TCQM Chair-Elect, respectively, at this 2020 APMP GA which was held in November, 2020.
