Calibration/Testing Service Procedures

All quotation requests for our calibration and testing services should be submitted by using the Quotation Request Form A and KRISS will only provide measurement services for primary standards either from National Metrology Institutes (NMIs) or institutions with an endorsement email or letter from the NMI. No specific template is required and a short paragraph sent by email to service@kriss.re.kr will suffice. If the institute’s home country is not a Member of the BIPM or a State Associate to the General Conference on Weights and Measures (CGPM), please contact an NMI within the Regional Metrology Organization first to find out if your measurement needs are covered by their standard services. If your needs extend beyond their services, then follow the steps outlined below for our measurement service procedures. In this case, an NMI’s endorsement is not necessary.

Please be advised that for those institutions (e.g. non-NMIs) NMIs that want to calibrate their primary standards, we suggest accessing the information in the KRISS service items at the BIPM KCDB website (http://kcdb.bipm.org/AppendixC). Once you have found out the service availability, complete the Quotation Request Form and send it to the Center for Measurement and Training Services via

email to: service@kriss.re.kr

After submitting the quotation request you will receive a quotation including pricing and scheduling details. Customers can confirm acceptance of the offer simply by returning the quotation via email with institution’s name and the full name of the person-in-charge.

The shipping schedule must be coordinated with a measurement service consultant prior to sending your items. The shipping details for sending items to be calibrated and or tested are:
Address : Center for Measurement and Training Services, Division of Technology Services Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS) 267 Gajeong-ro, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon 34113, South Korea

Once the items are received, an email notification will be sent to the customer and items will be added to the KRISS measurement service system. In due course, a measurement service consultant will contact the customer to inform the progress of the work. Payment should be made before the completion of work.

All calibrated standards and instruments are sent via freight collect. The customer bears the cost at the destination point. If a specific freight agent is desired, then please contact us before return shipment is arranged. A specific duration of mail delivery cannot be guaranteed by KRISS due to the involvement of different national delivery services.
